ASIDE FROM KEEPING SAFE, EVERY ONE IS ENCOURAGE TO READ THE HANDOUTS. These home reading and reference materials are uploaded for you to make yourself productive during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). This is also the time for those students who have not complied with previous assignments thru the submission of notebooks. Please spare some time to work on those back logs and be ready to submit them as soon as the classes resume. For the meantime, check the home reading materials and relevant handouts. Please note that these home readings will be answered at your own phase and time, provided that you answer and write them in your notebooks. These questions and exercises will be covered in a quiz and in the final examination. Thus, it is your own advantage if you will devote time to answer them. These materials are uploaded below or you can have access in the subject hyperlink bar. As a simple way of monitoring, please acknowledge if you have read this update by writing down your comments below.
NOTE: The main reference reading material is the PICE Manual of Professional Practice for Civil Engineers. With the result of the Midterm Examination that majority failed, EVERY STUDENT IS REQUIRED TO HAVE A COPY (EITHER E-COPY OR HARD COPY) OF THE PICE MANUAL. The copy will be inspected every meeting. Moreover, if until now, you have NOT submitted your individual assignments, you automatically will be given a "zero" point, and in case you PASS in the subject, you will be given an "INCOMPLETE GRADE", otherwise you have to comply all the requirements.

The creation of a company website will be facilitated through the use of existing free domains powered by Wordpress, Weebly, Wix, Squarespace or Blogger.
Supposedly, the presentation of the group outputs was previously scheduled last March 11-12, 2020. But due to the official travel on those periods and with the current community quarantine, the output presentation will be rescheduled. However, it is also expected that prior to this pandemic, each group has started setting-up this website. As part of monitoring of the progress before the classes resume in April 15, please provide the initial outputs of the group by providing below the message box the link of the proposed website for initial assessment for improvement. Again, it was clearly explained during the class that the website should reflect the basic information and salient professional services, including samples of completed projects and on-going projects being undertaken. Refer to your Company Profile (Group Work Assignment #1). Do not forget to write down in the comment box below the hyperlink of the website, including the assigned Group number for easy reference/recording or the name of the company/firm. REMINDER: Additional points will be given to those groups that will comply or share their group output for initial assessment. DESPITE THE 30-DAY ENHANCED COMMUNITY QUARANTINE, it is expected that your groups are continuing in writing-up your research projects towards the oral defense. Prior to this pandemic, it was clearly discussed and agreed upon that you have to submit the final manuscripts to members of the panel. Obviously, the schedules for both EE and CE groups will be reset. The final schedule will be set as soon as the classes resume in April 15 or later part of April.
To reiterate, final manuscripts will be handed over to the members of Panel, a week before the schedule of the final defense. The final copies to be submitted will be endorsed by the adviser. In addition, the manuscripts are following the prescribed template, layout, APA citation/referencing and it will be subjected to Plagscan (plagiarism checking) prior to the final defense. As always discussed in the class, please be reminded of deadlines, and if you have NOT complied with previous assignments, it is the right time to be productive and you are encourage to work on these backlogs.
Specifically, for Methods of Research, for those students who did not able to submit their first draft of Chapter 2, please continue working on it and you are encourage to work beyond the minimum requirements. For those who submitted on time, just reminded that you have to follow the template (style, format, contents, APA referencing and citation) of the research proposal. A separate instruction will be posted for the next individual assignment - Reaction Papers on the Solid Waste Management videos (schools, households, communities and markets) that were also previously shared in the subject link page. Continual Learning to all undegraduate students: CE4214 (Hydrology) and CE5227 (Contracts/Ethics)3/20/2020 TO ENSURE EASY ACCESS AND TO FACILITATE OUR LEARNING despite the community quarantine, this is only a normal activity and similar undertaking that every student should take if classes are cancelled due to office travels. In connection with the previous post, this is to reiterate the topics that every student is encourage to read. Even in the start of the classes in January 2020, handouts and relevant reading materials were already uploaded in the website to augment the face-to-face meet-up. Again, this is not additional burden to students but to do follow-up of what being discussed during the class such as group works and individual ouput. The only difference is that, there will be no DEADLINE OF STUDENT OUTPUTS but rather, having a continuous communication with the students during this time of community quarantine.
Every student is encourage to read and answers some questions based from the readings at individual's time and phase. It is also expected that every student has already secured e-copies of the relevant materials as always reminded in the class. For those students who have not complied with previous assignments such as notebooks, this is the best time to catch-up. In particular, CE5227 Final Group Work mechanics/guidelines are available since the start of the classes. Again, it is expected that every student/group has already done initial discussion among yourselves on the final requirement. Please read the instructions carefully.
