1999: August 25, House Bill 3265 - the bill converting Romblon State College (RSC) into a university was approved by the Committee on Education at the Lower House. However, the bill sank against the changes into political landscape following the ouster of President Joseph Estrada.
2007: House Bill 1201 - another bill seeking for RSC's conversion into a university status was resurrected at the lower house by Congressman Eleandro Jesus "Budoy" F. Madrona. 2009: August 25, House Bill 1201 which was changed to HB 5217 passed the lower house. The counterpart bill, Senate Bill 3079 was sponsored by Senator Mar Rozas, Senator Francis Escudero and Senator Edgardo Angara. October 14, Republic Act 9721 was enacted by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo which converted RSC into Romblon State University. |
College of Engineering and Technology - Civil Engineering Program
With strict compliance of the Commission Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order (CMO) No 29, series of 2007, Romblon State University (RSU) adheres to the provisions stipulated in the CMO’s policies and standards in the offering of the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program. In reference to Articles III of the said CMO, the civil engineering program specialization is designed specifically to meet the educational challenge by emphasizing fundamental knowledge, transferable skills, and lifelong learning. In particular, to ensure that the civil engineering graduates are articulate and understands the nature of their special role in society and the impact of their work on the progress of the nation, the Civil Engineering Curriculum is based on a set of competency standards which contains academic units that ensures dept, focus and extensive knowledge in certain disciplines of the civil engineering.
