IT WAS ANNOUNCED PRIOR TO ECQ, that the next assignment is a REACTION PAPER on the videos related to Solid Waste Management as posted in the website. These videos covered the following: communities, household, schools and markets that are posted at Youtube.
There will be no format for the reaction paper, however, this report requires "critical thinking" and ensure that you also reflect on the important messages, best practices, strategies and lessons being conveyed by these videos, especially the resource persons featured in the recording. You could also discuss the effectiveness of the video in tackling the issue on waste management.
DEADLINE OF SUBMISSION VIA EMAIL: on or before 15 May 2020 (Friday). Non-submission of this final requirement and previous assignments will receive an INCOMPLETE GRADE.
PRIOR TO ECQ PERIOD, there was a scheduled submission of 1st Draft of Chapter 2: Review of Literature, inclusion of 2 hard copies of journal articles. Some of the students complied these requirements and it was explained during the class the general impression/comments of this first submission. These comments as specified below and to be incorporated in the 2nd draft submission.
FIRST SUBMISSION PRIOR TO ECQ
1. Follow the guideline: template, lay-out, paging, cover page, APA citation and referencing
2. Chapter 2 has two main parts: (a) Related Literature which constitute the theories, concepts, general background of the literature, and principles in relation to the proposed study; and (b) Related Studies which specifically covers relevant/significant journal articles and need to review the methodology and major findings from those articles.
3. Provide sub-headings that focus on key topics of the proposed
4. Inclusion of one (1) thesis' abstract relevant to the study.
5. Additional inclusion of list of references ( at least 5).
If you have done the first submission and received the comments, then the next stage is stated below, otherwise, you need to comply first the 1st submission and wait for the comments before you proceed with second submission, but you can start Chapter 1: Introduction while waiting, or submission of Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 is also recommended.
SECOND SUBMISSION: FINAL REQUIREMENT
1. Revision of the first draft of Chapter 2 based on the comments above. Inclusion of theoretical and conceptual frameworks, and definition of terms are OPTIONAL
2. 1st Draft of Chapter 1: Introduction with background/rationale, objectives/research questions, and limitations
3. Follow the proper research proposal report format and template.
DEADLINE OF SUBMISSION VIA EMAIL: 1st draft submission of Chapter 2 - on or before 09 May 2020 (Saturday); 2nd draft submission of Chapter 2 and 1st draft of Chapter 1: Introduction - 15 May 2020 (Friday). Non-submission of the proposals and previous assignments will receive INCOMPLETE GRADES.
SINCE THERE WAS NO FINAL GROUP WORK TO BE SUBMITTED but if you have done some of the activities suggested during the ECQ period, you are encourage to submit them via email. Your submission will get additional points towards your final grades. For those who did not submit previous requirements (assignments/notebooks) will receive "0" points.

In addition, extra points will be given to the groups who will submit the final group work - this was posted in the website at the start of the class. This extra points will be beneficial to those students who failed in the MIDTERM EXAMINATION. For those who did not submit previous requirements (assignments) will receive "0" points.
If you have done some of the activities (within the ECQ period), you can submit your answers (handwritten) and send them by email. This will be given additional points.

Please note that you have ample time to do the revisions particularly Chapters 1-3 prior to ECQ period. Dear Undergraduate Students: CE4214 HYDROLOGY & CE5227 CONTRACTS/ETHICS, HOME READINGS, 16-30 April 2020
THIS IS THE REVISED HOME ACTIVITY, particularly covering the 3 weeks ECQ extension. In particular, for CE4214 Hydrology read Chapters 4 (Storage/Infiltration) and 5 (Runoff) of Davie, Tim (2008). Fundamentals of Hydrology. In addition, you may read Chapters 4 and 5 of Han, Dawei (2010). Concise Hydrology for supplemental readings.
For CE5227 Contracts/Ethics, please sections of RA9184 on Opening of Bids, Bid Evaluation, Post Qualification, Contract of Awards and Termination, and Alternative Methods of Procurement.
The specific activities for each of the subject will be posted as part of Assignment. However, there will be no deadlines or requirements but it is advantage for you to undertake these readings in preparation for the final assessment.

ASIDE FROM KEEPING SAFE, EVERY ONE IS ENCOURAGE TO READ THE HANDOUTS. These home reading and reference materials are uploaded for you to make yourself productive during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). This is also the time for those students who have not complied with previous assignments thru the submission of notebooks. Please spare some time to work on those back logs and be ready to submit them as soon as the classes resume.
For the meantime, check the home reading materials and relevant handouts. Please note that these home readings will be answered at your own phase and time, provided that you answer and write them in your notebooks. These questions and exercises will be covered in a quiz and in the final examination. Thus, it is your own advantage if you will devote time to answer them.

NOTE: The main reference reading material is the PICE Manual of Professional Practice for Civil Engineers. With the result of the Midterm Examination that majority failed, EVERY STUDENT IS REQUIRED TO HAVE A COPY (EITHER E-COPY OR HARD COPY) OF THE PICE MANUAL. The copy will be inspected every meeting. Moreover, if until now, you have NOT submitted your individual assignments, you automatically will be given a "zero" point, and in case you PASS in the subject, you will be given an "INCOMPLETE GRADE", otherwise you have to comply all the requirements.
